We are very fortunate to have David Hughes address our PCA functions in Melbourne and Sydney during March.
David has an international reputation in the global food industry and sits on food boards in several countries around the world. He is a much sought-after speaker at international conferences and seminars on global food industry issues, particularly consumer trends, and is a strong proponent of building vertical alliances between key chain members in the food industry. He has lived and worked in Europe, North America, the Caribbean, Africa and South East Asia.
His presentation is one that will provide a thorough insight into the global retail environment, discussing issues that are ever present in our local markets.
Definitely a night not to be missed!
David will discuss the following topics in a two-part presentation:
* An interactive opener on "Who's making the serious money in the global grocery industry?"
* The impact of the recession on shopping behaviour in 2010 and beyond
* Growth of and trends in private label sales across the globe and implications for packaging companies
* The changing social and commercial environment within the global grocery industry through to 2010
* "Going Green" - who's driving the sustainability and environmental agenda across the globe and implications for packaging companies
For the last thirty years, David has always been involved in food and drink. In short, he has a constantly evolving and informed view on global food industry developments – from consumer, grocery retail and food service towards one end of the value chain to life science companies at the other, and everything in-between. Talking to and with senior directors and managers of food and beverage companies, R&D organisations, farmer-owned businesses, government and others, David advises them on the commercial implications of change in their industry and how they might respond to combat threats and embrace opportunities.
