National Schools Packaging Design Challenge
Packaging Design Competition (for primary and secondary
students)The National Schools Packaging Design Challenge is a packaging competition aimed at students from Senior Primary through to Year 12. Students are provided with an open ended design brief that requires the research of packaging materials and issues and the production of an innovative solution to packaging design. Teachers may chose a specific product for students or leave it to them to decide.
As this unit of work can fit into a number of different curriculum areas, teachers will need to match the Challenge outcomes to their own State or National and school outcomes. However, all entries must follow the headings and expectations outlined in the Assessment card for Judging that is provided.
Students will present their designs and rationale via Word Doc presentations in 2011. The judging emphasis is on students demonstrating an understanding of packaging issues – from sustainability along the whole supply chain, to health and safety, transportation, business and marketing issues.
