They say it takes 2.6 seconds for a customer to choose one product off a supermarket shelf over another similar product. The last advertisement a customer sees for a product is its packaging – so it better be eye catching and visually distinctive. This is exactly what Year 11 Melbourne High School student, Tom Adolph has done.

Tom’s entry was a unique, classy and creative design for high end market biscuits. His innovative design utilised a cardboard cylinder shape with a ‘snug’ fitting retractable half cylinder interior to protect the product. The cardboard created the optimum surface for the classy black background labelling that further enhances its ability to stand out from its market competitors. Tom’s attention to mandatory labelling requirements together with his rationale, which justified his design choices, went well beyond the basic requirements and expectations of this challenge. The eye catching, innovative, sophisticated mock-up has great point of sale features and can easily be marketed to the discerning shopper.
