JUDGING PROCESS

Sponsored by:

Judges are looking for an understanding of packaging issues, including lifestyle and environmental issues, creativity, innovation and how well students have completed the brief and rationale requirements.

Judges will place emphasis on the students’ rationale in order to allow students in schools with few technology resources to compete with students from better resourced schools.

Judges will not be judging the quality of the students PowerPoint presentation. They are more interested in the content of the presentation. Please be aware that PowerPoint presentations with too many special features can distract judges from the quality of the content. Teachers who wish to assess students PowerPoint skills should establish their own assessment criteria and assess this separately.

More information on the Judging Panel will be available on the website.

  • Please note: The Judges decision is final.
No correspondence will be entered into.

Judging is a three tier process.

(In-school judging)

  • Teachers access students work and submit the top two entries from their school

(Held over 2 judging periods, judged by the PCA)

  • Entries submitted by the school will be judged over two judging rounds (May or June)

  • The top 4 entries from the Senior Primary and the Secondary category from each judging period (May and June) will go on to compete in the national finals

  • Judges will use only the information included in the PowerPoint/Word Doc submission for judging in Round 2

National Finals (Judged by the PCA)

  • The top 8 winners from Round 2 will go on to compete in Round 3 for the national prize for their category

  • Entries will be judged on both the standard of their physical mock-up/package as well as the content in their PowerPoint/Word Doc entry

  • Judges will be focused on the content of the entries not the ability to use the features of PowerPoint or Word software
