THE CHALLENGEThe challenge is to design packaging for any imaginary Australian product to sell in Australia. The full design brief for senior primary students can be found here and secondary students here. Students work in teams of two, (Year 11 and 12 students may enter individually) and will need to address simple technical considerations, environmental issues and display a high level of originality, creativity and innovation. Each design will be accompanied by a rationale (reasoning and design considerations). This is the most important part of the entry and judging process. It must tell the judges the reasons behind design choices and indicate the students’ understanding of the packaging issues that they have addressed. Detailed outlines of the rationale expectations for each category can be found in this brochure and on the website. The judging sheet to be used can be found here for senior primary and here for secondary. Schools will need to assess/judge students internally and submit only their two best entries for judging. Schools may submit a list of all other participating students with their final two entries. Each student will receive a participation certificate. Teachers are advised to submit typed lists of participating students names and check accuracy of spelling to avoid printing errors on participation certificates. |
