The challenge is
to design packaging
for any imaginary
Australian product
to be sold in
Australia.
Students to Year 10 work in teams of up to two with
Year 11 and 12 students entering individually. Students
will need to address simple technical considerations,
environmental issues and display a high level of
originality, creativity and innovation.
Each design must be accompanied by a rationale
(reasoning and design considerations). This is the most
important part of the entry and judging process. It must
tell the judges the reasons behind design choices and
indicate the students’ understanding of the packaging
issues that they have addressed.
Detailed outlines of the rationale expectations for
each category can be found via the menu on the left-hand side of this page.
The judging sheet to be used can be found via the menu on the left-hand side of this page. Due to the
restricted number of entries allowed, it is the teachers/
schools responsibility to assess/judge students internally
and submit only their two best entries for judging.
This will be referred to as Round One of judging.
Click here for more information on the Judging Process.
Schools will submit a list of all other participating
students with their final two entries. All students will
receive a participation certificate. Teachers are advised
to submit typed lists of participating students names via
email and check accuracy of spelling to avoid printing
errors on participation certificates.

category can be found by clicking here and the Secondary Students category by clicking here.
