Building on valuable laminate technology improvements achieved in previous years, Amcor now offers a recyclable, waste reducing alternative to the waxcoated carton, widespread throughout the agricultural industry. The new SurefreshR Wax Replacement Packs created feature sturdy XitexR corrugated single-wall box board with a treated PET film/ paper laminate. Water and scuff resistant, it’s just as robust as the wax box, and can handle the full cycle from packing in the field to presentation on the shelf. By eliminating the wax component, this humble looking carton can clean up the fruit and vegetable industry and enable thousands of tonnes of recyclable paper to be returned for recycling. It also reduces the pack weight by 50% which was the traditional wax component and thereby delivers impressive savings to the supply chain in transport and handling. Further advances in the use of water-based adhesives and inks for up to 3 colour post print flexography add merchandising impact at the point of sale.
